"PC is determined to make roads safer for children": (Baz Gaz, Monday 7 April - Page 7).

In relation to a crackdown on inconsiderate drivers near St. Marks School. Well done PC Loraine Stockham!

This issue has once again been raised by Councillor Putty, whose interview was broadcast on Kestrel FM this morning. Some are using the parking facilities already agree for parents of school-children to use and walking the remainder... but others are not it appears. Mad

Why do we not develop the grassed area opposite the school, turn it into a drop of point for the parents and children! We fail in the U.K. on the planning of such potential issues, they have nailed this problem in the States.
Twisted Evil

Hi Trevor,

Concrete over more grass in the area? Hmm. We may fail in addressing such matters as the volume of parking in some planning applications but the USA has larger land mass than we do in the UK so, in my opinion, it's hardly comparing 'apples for apples'!

Some are using the parking facilities already agree for parents of school-children to use and walking the remainder... but others are not it appears. Just more consideration is needed by some imo.

Best regards,

Simon

Hi Simon,
How you doing!,That's just the sort of response i thought it would get, i feel the same way about concreting over grassed areas just like you and many others do, however it's needed, to resolve the ongoing stressful issue of illegal parking and poor driving standards that appear to be plaguing our streets of late, i for one am glad we don't have this issue as we can walk to school, however it's everyone's responsibilitiy when it spills over onto our personal lives and our properties causing access and egress issues as it appears to be doing, and when i feel our lives and those of the children are being placed at risk by senseless, mindless and selfish individuals then we need to act, why doesn't the school open just a little bit earlier and allow those that genuinely need to drive kids to school, the chance to drive into the private staff and visitors parking area and drop kids off, this would help to lesser the effects of poor parking on the roads,I still cannot believe that parents are prepared to park within 25 feet of a t-junction, on pathways, yellows and outside private properties, they would not be too chuffed if a were to park 40 of my lorries outside thier houses at 08:30 in the morning, they would be the first ones to complain i think, eye for eye and all that fella.?
Regards
